Quick answer

Could your flight qualify?

A qualifying Aeromexico disruption may bring compensation, refund, alternative-travel or care rights. Mexico's rules use airline-attributable delay thresholds and ticket-price percentages; qualifying Aeromexico departures from the EU or UK can also fall under EC261 or UK261, while flights to or from Canada can fall under APPR.

Passenger rights

Which passenger rights could apply?

Aeromexico operates services within Mexico and between Mexico and EU, UK and Canadian airports. Its own operated departures from protected EU airports can fall under EC261, departures from the United Kingdom under UK261, and services to or from Canada under APPR. Mexico's Civil Aviation Law remains relevant on qualifying Mexico services. Because Aeromexico is not a UK or EU carrier, flights merely arriving there from Mexico are assessed differently. Travaro checks the affected segment, travel direction, operating carrier and disruption conditions.

Important conditions

What can affect your eligibility?

Aeromexico serves more than one Travaro passenger-rights jurisdiction, so the airline name alone cannot determine the remedy. Mexico's rules focus on airline-attributable delays, percentages and remedy choices; on qualifying EU, UK and Canadian flights, the applicable framework adds its own conditions. Travaro checks the actual operating carrier and the full itinerary.

The disruption cause matters

The statutory delay and cancellation compensation described under Mexico's Civil Aviation Law applies where the disruption is attributable to the airline.

One to four hours uses the airline's registered policy

For an attributable delay of more than one hour and less than four hours, the airline's registered compensation policy governs the applicable discounts, food, beverages or other benefits.

Two to four hours has a 7.5% minimum

If the attributable delay is more than two hours but less than four hours, the discount or compensation cannot be less than 7.5% of the ticket price.

More than four hours unlocks cancellation remedies

The passenger can choose among refund, first-available substitute travel with care, or later travel. The refund and later-travel options include compensation of at least 25% under the statutory conditions.

Overbooking uses the cancellation remedies

After volunteers are sought, an involuntarily denied passenger can use the remedies linked to an airline-attributable cancellation.

EU and UK departures can have different rights

Qualifying Aeromexico-operated departures from the EU and UK can be assessed under EC261 or UK261, including their relevant delay, cancellation and denied-boarding conditions. Inbound journeys from Mexico are not automatically covered.

Canadian journeys can fall under APPR

Aeromexico-operated flights to or from Canada, and qualifying connections, can fall under APPR. The cause, control classification, arrival impact and alternative travel may determine the rights available.

The operating carrier still matters

On codeshare or partner journeys, the airline shown on the ticket can differ from the carrier that actually operated the affected flight. That can affect which passenger-rights rules apply.

Check each segment before choosing a framework

Mexico LAC, EC261, UK261 and APPR have different geographic scopes. The actual operated journey, direction and connecting-ticket structure matter; rights cannot be assumed from a partner flight number alone.
