The airline name alone does not determine your rights. Route, operating carrier and disruption details matter.

Quick answer

Could your flight qualify?

You may have compensation or other rights after a qualifying Air India Express disruption. India DGCA applies to relevant India journeys; other frameworks depend on the actual operating airline, departure airport, route and circumstances. India flight delays do not automatically create a separate fixed cash claim.

Passenger rights

Which passenger rights could apply?

Services within India and to Saudi Arabia, Oman and Thailand. Air India Express (IX) is distinct from Air India (AI). Its own network includes Saudi, Oman and Thailand services; schedule changes and disruption conditions matter. Travaro checks which airline physically operated the affected sector before assessing the applicable market rules.

Important conditions

What can affect your eligibility?

No single worldwide compensation rule applies to every Air India Express flight. The operating airline, date, route, disruption circumstances and any alternative travel determine which passenger protections apply.

India DGCA on qualifying routes

India’s DGCA passenger-rights rules can apply to qualifying flights within, to or from India, including flights operated by foreign airlines. Delay may create assistance rights without a standalone fixed cash award; some cancellations, involuntary denied boarding and qualifying missed connections have separate conditions and statutory fare-based limits. The actual operating carrier, dates and disruption facts must be checked.

GACA on qualifying routes

Qualifying services departing Saudi Arabia can be assessed under GACA. Check whether the carrier actually operated the flight and whether the scheduled service was suspended or changed on the travel date.

Oman CAA on qualifying routes

Qualifying services departing Oman can be assessed under Oman CAA passenger-rights rules. The flight’s operating airline, direction and circumstances determine the available rights.

CAAT 101 on qualifying routes

Qualifying scheduled departures from Thailand can be assessed under CAAT Regulation No. 101, depending on the disruption type, distance and timing.

Operating airline, not ticket brand

Air India Express (IX) must actually operate the affected sector. Codeshares, marketing flight numbers and other group airlines do not establish IX-operated services.

Schedule and cause matter

Air India Express (IX) is distinct from Air India (AI). Its own network includes Saudi, Oman and Thailand services; schedule changes and disruption conditions matter.
