Quick answer

Could your flight qualify?

You may be eligible for compensation or other passenger rights after a qualifying Alaska Airlines disruption. APPR can apply to qualifying Canada flights and Mexican passenger rights to qualifying Mexico services. UK261 is relevant to covered Heathrow departures, while EC261-based rules may apply to seasonal Alaska-operated departures from Rome or Reykjavík (EEA). Travaro checks your actual journey before assessing eligibility.

Passenger rights

Which passenger rights could apply?

Alaska Airlines operates flights involving Canadian and Mexican airports, daily Seattle–London Heathrow service, and 2026 seasonal Seattle–Rome and Seattle–Reykjavík services. Travaro checks the actual operating airline, departure point, destination and flight date before assessing which of the supported frameworks can apply.

Important conditions

What can affect your eligibility?

The airline name alone does not establish entitlement. For Alaska Airlines, the route, date, cause, operating carrier, disruption type and protected booking all matter.

APPR depends on your itinerary

Canada’s APPR can apply to flights to, from or within Canada, subject to the operating airline, disruption cause, size classification, notice and other eligibility conditions.

Mexico LAC depends on your itinerary

Mexico’s passenger-rights framework may provide qualifying remedies for flights the airline operates involving Mexico. Delay, cancellation and denied-boarding rights have distinct conditions; fixed EC261 amounts must not be assumed.

EC261 depends on your itinerary

EC261-based rights can apply to qualifying departures from covered EU/EEA airports. For EU/EEA operating carriers, qualifying arrivals from outside the region may also be covered. The direction, carrier and disruption circumstances matter.

UK261 depends on your itinerary

UK261 can apply to qualifying UK departures. Some inbound flights operated by covered UK or European carriers may also qualify, but no blanket entitlement applies merely because the itinerary mentions the UK.

The actual operating carrier matters

Alaska Airlines (AS), Hawaiian Airlines (HA) and Horizon Air are distinct operators within the broader group. Do not attribute a partner, Hawaiian-operated or codeshare sector to Alaska Airlines merely because it was booked through the group.

Cancellation notice and alternative flights affect rights

A qualifying cancellation may provide compensation and/or other remedies, depending on cause, advance notice and the alternative journey.

Protected connections are assessed as a journey

For Alaska Airlines connections through Seattle, the full reservation, actual operating carriers and jurisdiction of each affected flight should be checked.

External causes can affect fixed compensation

Weather, air-traffic restrictions and other genuinely external events can change cash-compensation eligibility while some care or rerouting rights may remain.
