The airline name alone does not determine your rights. Route, operating carrier and disruption details matter.

Quick answer

Could your flight qualify?

You may have compensation or other rights after a qualifying IndiGo disruption. India DGCA applies to relevant India journeys; other frameworks depend on the actual operating airline, departure airport, route and circumstances. India flight delays do not automatically create a separate fixed cash claim.

Passenger rights

Which passenger rights could apply?

Indian and international services including qualifying Europe, UK, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Thailand routes. IndiGo operates some European flights with leased aircraft and some destinations are partner codeshares. Manchester flying was suspended from 31 August 2026. Always check the actual operating carrier and the flight date. Travaro checks which airline physically operated the affected sector before assessing the applicable market rules.

India

India DGCA

Fare-based compensation subject to INR limits

India’s DGCA passenger-rights rules can apply to qualifying flights within, to or from India, including flights operated by foreign airlines. Delay may create assistance rights without a standalone fixed cash award; some cancellations, involuntary denied boarding and qualifying missed connections have separate conditions and statutory fare-based limits. The actual operating carrier, dates and disruption facts must be checked.

European Union / EEA

EC261

€250–€600 in qualifying cases

Flights departing covered EU/EEA airports may qualify under EC261, subject to the actual operating carrier, route and disruption conditions. Inbound flights on a non-EU airline are not covered merely by arriving in the EU.

United Kingdom

UK261

£220–£520 in qualifying cases

Flights departing the UK may be protected under UK261 where the operator and disruption conditions are met. A non-UK and non-EU airline arriving from outside the UK is not covered on arrival alone.

Türkiye

SHY-YOLCU

Rights on qualifying Türkiye departures

Actual services departing Türkiye can engage SHY-YOLCU. Mere connecting itineraries sold through codeshare partners do not prove the named airline operates a Türkiye flight.

Saudi Arabia

GACA

Rights on qualifying Saudi departures

Qualifying services departing Saudi Arabia can be assessed under GACA. Check whether the carrier actually operated the flight and whether the scheduled service was suspended or changed on the travel date.

Oman

Oman CAA

Rights on qualifying Oman departures

Qualifying services departing Oman can be assessed under Oman CAA passenger-rights rules. The flight’s operating airline, direction and circumstances determine the available rights.

Thailand

CAAT 101

THB 1,500–4,500 in qualifying cases

Qualifying scheduled departures from Thailand can be assessed under CAAT Regulation No. 101, depending on the disruption type, distance and timing.

Important conditions

What can affect your eligibility?

No single worldwide compensation rule applies to every IndiGo flight. The operating airline, date, route, disruption circumstances and any alternative travel determine which passenger protections apply.

India DGCA on qualifying routes

India’s DGCA passenger-rights rules can apply to qualifying flights within, to or from India, including flights operated by foreign airlines. Delay may create assistance rights without a standalone fixed cash award; some cancellations, involuntary denied boarding and qualifying missed connections have separate conditions and statutory fare-based limits. The actual operating carrier, dates and disruption facts must be checked.

Flights departing covered EU/EEA airports may qualify under EC261, subject to the actual operating carrier, route and disruption conditions. Inbound flights on a non-EU airline are not covered merely by arriving in the EU.

UK261 on qualifying routes

Flights departing the UK may be protected under UK261 where the operator and disruption conditions are met. A non-UK and non-EU airline arriving from outside the UK is not covered on arrival alone.

SHY-YOLCU on qualifying routes

Actual services departing Türkiye can engage SHY-YOLCU. Mere connecting itineraries sold through codeshare partners do not prove the named airline operates a Türkiye flight.

GACA on qualifying routes

Qualifying services departing Saudi Arabia can be assessed under GACA. Check whether the carrier actually operated the flight and whether the scheduled service was suspended or changed on the travel date.

Oman CAA on qualifying routes

Qualifying services departing Oman can be assessed under Oman CAA passenger-rights rules. The flight’s operating airline, direction and circumstances determine the available rights.

CAAT 101 on qualifying routes

Qualifying scheduled departures from Thailand can be assessed under CAAT Regulation No. 101, depending on the disruption type, distance and timing.

Operating airline, not ticket brand

IndiGo (6E) must actually operate the affected sector. Codeshares, marketing flight numbers and other group airlines do not establish 6E-operated services.

Schedule and cause matter

IndiGo operates some European flights with leased aircraft and some destinations are partner codeshares. Manchester flying was suspended from 31 August 2026. Always check the actual operating carrier and the flight date.
