Kuwait Airways compensation guide
The airline name alone does not determine your rights. Route, operating carrier and disruption details matter.
Quick answer
Could your flight qualify?
You may be entitled to compensation or other passenger rights after an eligible Kuwait Airways delay, cancellation, involuntary denied boarding or disrupted connection. Travaro checks the route, operating carrier, disruption and final arrival impact before selecting the applicable framework.

Passenger rights
Which passenger rights could apply?
Kuwait Airways is Kuwait's national carrier and operates directly to several Travaro-supported passenger-rights markets. It also sells partner and codeshare journeys, so the actual operating carrier must be separated from the KU marketing code before rights are assessed.
European Union
EC261
€250–€600 in qualifying cases
Qualifying Kuwait Airways-operated departures from airports covered by EC261 can fall under EU passenger-rights rules. Because Kuwait Airways is not an EU carrier, a flight starting outside the EU is not covered merely because it arrives there.

UK261
£220–£520 in qualifying cases
Kuwait Airways operates from London and Manchester. Qualifying KU-operated departures from UK airports can fall under UK261; inbound journeys are assessed differently because Kuwait Airways is not a UK or EU carrier.

GACA
Passenger rights can apply on qualifying Saudi departures
Kuwait Airways operates from multiple Saudi airports. Qualifying KU-operated departures from Saudi Arabia can fall under GACA passenger-rights rules.

SHY-YOLCU
TRY equivalent of €100–€600
Kuwait Airways operates services involving Türkiye. As a foreign carrier, qualifying KU-operated departures from Turkish airports can fall under SHY-YOLCU.

CAAT 101
THB 1,500–4,500 in qualifying cases
Kuwait Airways operates Bangkok services and has scheduled direct Phuket service starting 27 October 2026. Qualifying scheduled KU-operated departures from Thailand can fall under CAAT Regulation No. 101.

India DGCA
Fare-based compensation subject to INR limits
India’s DGCA passenger-rights rules can apply to qualifying flights within, to or from India, including flights operated by foreign airlines. Delay may create assistance rights without a standalone fixed cash award; some cancellations, involuntary denied boarding and qualifying missed connections have separate conditions and statutory fare-based limits. The actual operating carrier, dates and disruption facts must be checked.

What happened to your Kuwait Airways flight?
Delayed flight
A significant arrival delay may qualify depending on the route, applicable passenger-rights rules and cause of the disruption.
Cancelled flight
Cancellation rights can depend on notice timing, the reason for cancellation and any alternative journey offered.
Denied boarding
Involuntary denied boarding can create compensation, alternative travel, refund and care rights in qualifying circumstances.
Missed connection
A connecting journey booked as one itinerary may qualify when a disruption causes you to reach your final destination significantly late.
Important conditions
What can affect your eligibility?
Kuwait Airways serves several protected jurisdictions and also sells partner-operated journeys. Travaro therefore checks both route direction and the physical operating carrier before applying passenger-rights rules.
Route direction matters
A Kuwait Airways departure from a protected jurisdiction can have different rights from the reverse journey because KU is a Kuwaiti carrier.
EU departures can fall under EC261
Qualifying KU-operated departures from covered EU airports can fall under EC261 even though Kuwait Airways is not an EU carrier.
UK departures can fall under UK261
Qualifying KU-operated departures from London or Manchester can fall under UK261; inbound journeys require a different assessment.
Saudi departures can fall under GACA
Qualifying Kuwait Airways departures from Saudi airports can be assessed under GACA passenger-rights rules.
Türkiye departures can fall under SHY-YOLCU
Qualifying KU-operated departures from Türkiye can be assessed under the Turkish passenger-rights framework for foreign carriers.
Oman sectors require an operating-carrier check
Kuwait Airways markets Oman Air codeshares to Oman. Do not assume a KU-marketed flight is KU-operated; check whether Oman Air (WY) actually operated the disrupted sector.
Thailand departures can fall under CAAT 101
Qualifying scheduled KU-operated departures from Thailand, including Bangkok and the announced Phuket service, can be assessed under Regulation No. 101.
Codeshare marketing does not identify the operating carrier
A KU flight number can be marketed on a flight physically operated by a partner. The operating airline can change the passenger-rights analysis.
India journeys are assessed under DGCA rules
Qualifying departures and arrivals involving India, and domestic flights within India, require a DGCA assessment. Delay assistance is different from capped cancellation or denied-boarding compensation; the operating airline, advance notice and alternative travel matter.
