Pakistan International Airlines compensation guide
The airline name alone does not determine your rights. Route, operating carrier and disruption details matter.
Quick answer
Could your flight qualify?
Compensation or other passenger rights may be available after a qualifying Pakistan International Airlines disruption. The potentially relevant frameworks are UK261, EC261, APPR, GACA, Oman CAA. A disruption alone is not proof of an award; the operating flight, applicable rules, travel direction and cause all matter.

Passenger rights
Which passenger rights could apply?
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA, PK) operates qualifying routes involving the United Kingdom, selected European destinations, Canada and Saudi Arabia; Oman services must be confirmed against the particular date and operator. Recent UK resumptions mean old route lists may be misleading.
United Kingdom
UK261
£220–£520 in qualifying cases
UK261 may protect qualifying flights departing the UK. Arrivals operated by non-UK/non-European carriers are not automatically covered; route direction, operating airline and the disruption facts matter.

EC261
€250–€600 in qualifying cases
EC261-related passenger rights may apply to qualifying departures from covered European airports. Carrier nationality can matter for certain inbound journeys; the route, operating carrier, disruption reason and arrival delay must be checked.

APPR
APPR rights on qualifying Canada routes
Canadian APPR rights can apply to qualifying journeys to, from or within Canada. Airline control, safety classification, delay, notice and carrier size affect remedies; not every disruption yields a fixed amount.

GACA
GACA rights on qualifying Saudi departures
Saudi GACA protections may apply to eligible flights departing Saudi airports. Check the actual operating service and disruption facts; an arrival or suspended route does not prove compensation entitlement.

Oman CAA
OMR 108–260 in qualifying cases
Oman CAA protection may apply to qualifying flights departing Oman. Operator identity, disruption type, duration and other conditions determine assistance or compensation; arriving foreign-airline flights are not automatically covered.

What happened to your Pakistan International Airlines flight?
Delayed flight
A significant arrival delay may qualify depending on the route, applicable passenger-rights rules and cause of the disruption.
Cancelled flight
Cancellation rights can depend on notice timing, the reason for cancellation and any alternative journey offered.
Denied boarding
Involuntary denied boarding can create compensation, alternative travel, refund and care rights in qualifying circumstances.
Missed connection
A connecting journey booked as one itinerary may qualify when a disruption causes you to reach your final destination significantly late.
Important conditions
What can affect your eligibility?
For Pakistan International Airlines, the flight number, destination list or airline brand alone cannot establish an entitlement. These checks help identify the correct rules for your particular journey.
UK261: check the qualifying flight
UK261 may protect qualifying flights departing the UK. Arrivals operated by non-UK/non-European carriers are not automatically covered; route direction, operating airline and the disruption facts matter.
EC261: check the qualifying flight
EC261-related passenger rights may apply to qualifying departures from covered European airports. Carrier nationality can matter for certain inbound journeys; the route, operating carrier, disruption reason and arrival delay must be checked.
APPR: check the qualifying flight
Canadian APPR rights can apply to qualifying journeys to, from or within Canada. Airline control, safety classification, delay, notice and carrier size affect remedies; not every disruption yields a fixed amount.
GACA: check the qualifying flight
Saudi GACA protections may apply to eligible flights departing Saudi airports. Check the actual operating service and disruption facts; an arrival or suspended route does not prove compensation entitlement.
Oman CAA: check the qualifying flight
Oman CAA protection may apply to qualifying flights departing Oman. Operator identity, disruption type, duration and other conditions determine assistance or compensation; arriving foreign-airline flights are not automatically covered.
Confirm the actual operating airline
Flights operated by partner carriers are not automatically PK flights, and a Saudi or Omani arrival is not the same as a qualifying regulated departure.
Check the travel date and operating schedule
PIA is not a UK or EU carrier; arrival in the UK or EU on a PK-operated flight alone does not establish coverage under UK261 or EC261. Departures from covered airports should be assessed separately.
Cause, notice and alternatives matter
Keep the reason given for the disruption, cancellation notice, rerouting and arrival time. An airline name or disruption by itself does not guarantee monetary compensation.
Protected connections need complete details
For one-ticket connections, keep every flight sector and actual final arrival time. Separate tickets or airline-operated and partner-operated segments can lead to different rights.
What to keep
Keep a clear record of the journey
Keep documents that show what happened on the Pakistan International Airlines-operated journey and how the disruption affected you.
