Philippine Airlines compensation guide
The airline name alone does not determine your rights. Route, operating carrier and disruption details matter.
Quick answer
Could your flight qualify?
You may have compensation or other passenger rights after a qualifying Philippine Airlines delay, cancellation, involuntary denied boarding or disrupted connection. APPR, GACA and CAAT 101 can become relevant, depending on the exact route, operator and circumstances. Neither a ticket label nor a destination alone establishes eligibility.

Passenger rights
Which passenger rights could apply?
Philippine Airlines operates international services involving Canada, Thailand and Saudi Arabia. Its own Riyadh services are currently suspended through 29 November 2026. Any Saudi assessment must reflect the actual operating schedule and travel date. Travaro checks the operating airline, direction of travel, booking and disruption before assessing the applicable framework.
Canada
APPR
APPR rights on qualifying Canada routes
Canada’s Air Passenger Protection Regulations can apply to qualifying flights to, from and within Canada, subject to the carrier category, disruption conditions and specific remedy. For Philippine Airlines, check that the affected flight was actually operated by PR and met the local conditions.

GACA
Passenger rights on qualifying Saudi departures
Qualifying flights departing from Saudi airports may fall under GACA passenger-rights rules, including departures operated by foreign airlines. Actual schedule and disruption facts matter. For Philippine Airlines, check that the affected flight was actually operated by PR and met the local conditions.

CAAT 101
THB 1,500–4,500 in qualifying cases
Qualifying scheduled departures from Thailand can be assessed under CAAT Regulation No. 101. The delay, cancellation or denied-boarding conditions, distance and other safeguards must be met. For Philippine Airlines, check that the affected flight was actually operated by PR and met the local conditions.

What happened to your Philippine Airlines flight?
Delayed flight
A significant arrival delay may qualify depending on the route, applicable passenger-rights rules and cause of the disruption.
Cancelled flight
Cancellation rights can depend on notice timing, the reason for cancellation and any alternative journey offered.
Denied boarding
Involuntary denied boarding can create compensation, alternative travel, refund and care rights in qualifying circumstances.
Missed connection
A connecting journey booked as one itinerary may qualify when a disruption causes you to reach your final destination significantly late.
Important conditions
What can affect your eligibility?
Philippine Airlines does not have one worldwide compensation rule. Each affected flight is assessed under the framework applicable to its actual operator, route, disruption and circumstances.
Canada journeys can fall under APPR
Qualifying Philippine Airlines-operated flights can be assessed under Canada's APPR where the relevant departure or itinerary and regulatory conditions apply.
Saudi departures may fall under GACA
Qualifying Philippine Airlines-operated flights can be assessed under GACA where the relevant departure or itinerary and regulatory conditions apply.
Scheduled Thailand departures may be protected by CAAT 101
Qualifying Philippine Airlines-operated flights can be assessed under Thailand's CAAT Regulation No. 101 where the relevant departure or itinerary and regulatory conditions apply.
The operating carrier is decisive
Philippine Airlines sells some European and Istanbul itineraries on Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines or Turkish Airlines codeshares. They do not establish PR-operated EU, UK or Türkiye services.
Disruption cause and notice matter
A delay, cancellation or involuntary denied boarding does not automatically qualify. The reason, notice timing and available replacement travel may change the rights assessed.
Connecting journeys need a booking check
The full itinerary, single-booking structure, affected operating sector and arrival at the final destination can change the assessment.
What to keep
Keep a clear record of the journey
Keep records that confirm the complete Philippine Airlines itinerary, which carrier operated each sector and what happened.
Your Philippine Airlines booking confirmation and all travel dates.
The complete flight number, including the PR designator where relevant.
Boarding passes or tickets for each affected leg.
Any “Operated by” information identifying a different airline.
Emails, SMS or app notices about the disruption.
Any stated reason for the disruption and changes to the timetable.
Replacement-flight, rerouting or refund correspondence.
Actual arrival time at the final destination where available.
Receipts for reasonable disruption-related expenses where relevant.
