The airline name alone does not determine your rights. Route, operating carrier and disruption details matter.

Quick answer

Could your flight qualify?

You may be entitled to compensation for an eligible Vueling delay, cancellation, involuntary denied boarding or disrupted connection. EC261 can cover qualifying Vueling journeys both from and into the European Union, while UK261 or SHY-YOLCU may also be relevant depending on your route and direction of travel.

Important conditions

What can affect your eligibility?

The Vueling name alone does not determine whether compensation applies. The route, operating carrier, disruption circumstances and impact on your journey all need to be considered.

Vueling's EU-airline status can extend EC261 coverage

EC261 can protect qualifying Vueling departures from the EU and, because Vueling is an EU carrier, qualifying Vueling-operated arrivals into the EU from outside the EU.

Final arrival delay can determine compensation

For qualifying delay and connecting-flight cases, the important measure is often how late you reached your final destination rather than only how late the first flight departed.

Cancellation notice and replacement travel matter

Cancellation compensation can depend on when Vueling informed you, why the flight was cancelled and the timing of any alternative journey that was offered.

Extraordinary circumstances can remove fixed compensation

Events genuinely outside the airline's control can remove entitlement to fixed compensation. That does not necessarily remove other passenger rights such as care, rerouting or refund.

Check the airline that actually operated the flight

Codeshare, connecting or partner-airline bookings can involve a different operating carrier. The airline that actually operated the disrupted flight can affect which passenger-rights framework applies.

What to keep

Keep a clear record of the journey

Useful evidence helps establish your itinerary, the operating flight, what happened and how the disruption affected your final journey.

Booking confirmation showing your route, travel date and Vueling flight number.

Boarding pass or other proof that you checked in and were ready to travel.

Emails, text messages or app notifications about the delay or cancellation.

Replacement-flight or rerouting details if your itinerary changed.

Evidence of your actual final arrival time where available.

Any explanation Vueling provided for the disruption.

Receipts for reasonable meals, accommodation or transport expenses caused by the disruption.
