XiamenAir compensation guide
The airline name alone does not determine your rights. Route, operating carrier and disruption details matter.
Quick answer
Could your flight qualify?
Eligible XiamenAir passengers may have compensation, rerouting, refund or care rights. The applicable framework depends on the actual flight and circumstances. On qualifying journeys Travaro checks EC261, UK261, APPR, CAAT 101, without assuming every disruption creates a payment.

Passenger rights
Which passenger rights could apply?
XiamenAir (MF), also called Xiamen Airlines, has operated from China to Amsterdam, Paris, London Heathrow, Vancouver and Bangkok. The Xiamen–London Heathrow route began in September 2026; check your flight date, direction and actual operator. Codeshares sold by partner airlines do not establish MF operation.
European Union / EEA
EC261
€250–€600 in qualifying cases
Flights departing covered EU/EEA airports may qualify under EC261. Because this is a non-EU/EEA airline, an arrival in the EU/EEA alone does not establish EC261 coverage. Check the actual operator, route, cause and disruption conditions.
Read the European Union / EEA guideUnited Kingdom
UK261
£220–£520 in qualifying cases
UK261 may apply to flights departing the UK operated by this airline. An inbound flight on a non-UK carrier is not automatically covered merely because its destination is the UK.

APPR
APPR compensation and assistance in qualifying cases
Canada’s APPR can apply to qualifying flights to, from or within Canada, with different rules for delay, cancellation and denied boarding. Airline control, safety, size classification and actual delay matter.

CAAT 101
THB 1,500–4,500 in qualifying cases
Thailand’s CAAT Regulation No. 101 may cover qualifying scheduled international departures from Thailand. Domestic and international entitlements differ; route, cause, timing and conditions must be assessed.

What happened to your XiamenAir flight?
Delayed flight
A significant arrival delay may qualify depending on the route, applicable passenger-rights rules and cause of the disruption.
Cancelled flight
Cancellation rights can depend on notice timing, the reason for cancellation and any alternative journey offered.
Denied boarding
Involuntary denied boarding can create compensation, alternative travel, refund and care rights in qualifying circumstances.
Missed connection
A connecting journey booked as one itinerary may qualify when a disruption causes you to reach your final destination significantly late.
Important conditions
What can affect your eligibility?
For XiamenAir, a flight number or advertised destination does not by itself prove compensation eligibility. Check the complete itinerary, flight date, operating airline and disruption facts.
EC261: confirm the qualifying flight
Flights departing covered EU/EEA airports may qualify under EC261. Because this is a non-EU/EEA airline, an arrival in the EU/EEA alone does not establish EC261 coverage. Check the actual operator, route, cause and disruption conditions.
UK261: confirm the qualifying flight
UK261 may apply to flights departing the UK operated by this airline. An inbound flight on a non-UK carrier is not automatically covered merely because its destination is the UK.
APPR: confirm the qualifying flight
Canada’s APPR can apply to qualifying flights to, from or within Canada, with different rules for delay, cancellation and denied boarding. Airline control, safety, size classification and actual delay matter.
CAAT 101: confirm the qualifying flight
Thailand’s CAAT Regulation No. 101 may cover qualifying scheduled international departures from Thailand. Domestic and international entitlements differ; route, cause, timing and conditions must be assessed.
Verify the actual operating airline
XiamenAir uses code MF. Check the 'operated by' detail rather than relying on a booking partner, alliance name or shared branding.
Flight dates and operating network matter
The London Heathrow route began in September 2026, so never imply a passenger flew that service before its inauguration. Compare the travel date and operator on the booking.
Notice, rebooking and cause change the outcome
The airline’s explanation, when it gave cancellation notice, what alternative travel it offered and your actual final arrival can affect compensation or assistance.
Protected connections need journey-level evidence
For a connection booked under one protected itinerary, keep every sector and the actual final arrival time. Separate tickets may have different rights.
What to keep
Keep a clear record of the journey
Keep evidence connecting your disruption to the XiamenAir-operated flight and its real impact.
Booking confirmation showing all XiamenAir flight numbers and the full itinerary.
Airline code MF, the actual operating carrier and any codeshare designation.
Boarding passes or proof of timely check-in for each affected sector.
Notifications and the airline’s stated reason for the disruption.
Scheduled and actual arrival times at the final destination.
Cancellation notice timestamp and any offered alternative flights.
Refund, rebooking and protected-connection details where relevant.
Receipts for reasonable meals, hotel stays or transfers where the rules allow.
